God’s Recipe for Salvation-How to be sure of Heaven

What is Salvation

God’s Recipe for Salvation:

The dictionary defines salvation as

1. Preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss.

2. Deliverance from sin and its consequences, believed by Christians to be brought about by faith in Christ. (Theology)

In truth, both are right. And, yes, I and millions of other Christians believe that it is brought about by faith in Christ.

How do I know that, you may ask. Well. let me give you my testimony. And at the end, I’ll tell you exactly why I believe that and why I pray that you too will find the recipe for salvation.

What is God's Recipe for Salvation?

I made a profession of faith in my late 20’s, in the home of a dear couple I know. (Meaning I accepted Jesus as my Savior, finding the recipe for salvation)

I didn’t have a sudden change in my spirit like so many Christians that I know have. And at the time, I didn’t even know that is what happened to most people.

I went to a few churches, but didn’t stay long at any of them. I couldn’t tell you why then. I just felt like I didn’t belong.

Let’s jump a few years ahead. Within the span of a few months, each of my children and my granddaughter were struggling with life altering trauma.

My son had suffered a stroke while on the operating table during the removal of a brain tumor.

My granddaughter had been exposed to lead and her levels were dangerously high.

And my 2 daughters were each struggling with major life issues.

It got to a point one weekend while my son was still in the hospital, that I just wanted to give up. I didn’t even want to get out of bed.

I just kept thinking, why should I even try anymore?

The most important people in my life were all suffering and I couldn’t do anything about it.

At that moment I found myself turning to God.

I fell to my knees and told God that I was tired and frustrated and that I couldn’t even take care of my children and keep them safe.

And I felt him saying to me, “That’s because that’s not your job, it’s mine.”

It didn’t all happen at once, but I slowly started to let go of some of the responsibility for my children’s lives, happiness and mistakes.

I started praying for them.  I offered guidance and helped them when they asked.

A year later, I still struggled, but it was getting better.

A dear friend of my dad’s had asked me a few times to join her at church. And I finally decided to take her up on it.

The minute I walked in I felt welcomed. And I felt that what the pastor said was meant specifically for me.

We started going regularly. (For me it was because I was afraid that I would miss what God wanted me to hear that week!)

Each week visitors got to hear God’s recipe for salvation.

We’ve been going now for many years and I still feel at home every time I step inside the door.

I had said that I trusted him, but because of my brokenness, I still felt like I had to take care of and protect myself and my loved ones.

Now I know that I can’t do everything on my own.

I lean on Him for everything and he is always there for me.

I’ve given my life to God and he guides me through the good and the bad.

This doesn’t mean that I don’t still have trials or that everything is sunshine and roses, but it does mean that I am never alone and I always have the protection of my heavenly Father, no matter what valley I may be walking through.

Here are 4 easy steps for the recipe for salvation:

1. Understand that we have all sinned.

Sinning is anything that we do that is wrong.

Romans 3:23 says, “for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

2. The penalty for sin is death.

Whether we sin a little or a lot, the punishment for sin is death.

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Revelation 20:14-15 says, “and death and hell were cast into the lake of fire, this is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

3. Jesus paid the penalty for sin.

The good news is that Jesus paid our sin debt by His death, burial, and resurrection.

Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love for us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” The free gift of eternal life is offered to all, however, the only way to receive it is by accepting Jesus Christ as your savior.

4. You must ask Jesus to save you.

Romans 10:9 says, “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, though shalt be saved.”

All you have to do is ask Christ into your heart.

Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” If you are willing to accept Christ’s payment for your sin, you can do so by praying this prayer, or one similar to it.

Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner, please forgive me for my sin and take me to Heaven when I die. I believe that You died and rose again for me. I place my trust in You alone to be my Savior. AMEN

If you haven’t asked Jesus into your heart, I pray you will put your trust in Jesus today.

Nothing is as freeing and wonderful as knowing you will never be alone again when you have God in your heart!

Hebrews 13: 5-6 & 8

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will neither leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and for ever.
